Charlene Spiller, owner of Culture Salon in Houston has been named lead hair stylist forBET's Rip the Run 2008, Ms.Spiller will lead a team of 13 through a maze of high fashion and Hip Hop Designers in order to create hair styles that will compliment the looks for each designer. For the first time Paul Mitchell will partner with BET's Rip the Runway to assist stylist backstage. This year for the first time renowned designer Zac Posen will make an appearance along with P Diddy's Sean John mens wear line also Adidas line by Missy Elliott "Respect Me" along with Snoop Dogg's new line Rich and Infamous, just to name a few. It's been a busy week for
Culture Salon's owner Charlene Spiller as she and crew assists
with Back Stage dressing as Fashion Week Live rolled into Houston
March 8, 2007 for the first time, with some of the biggest
name in the Fashion industry such as headliner Naomi
Cambell, Gemma Ward, Lilly Cole(Wall Street Journel article 2005)
Jessica Stam, Hillary and a host of others. With a
glimms of what it is like during fashion week Charlene
knew she had to share the experience with others so she
contacted the owner of the company she works for in NYC, with
her permmision she enlisted help from two of the top Fashion
schools in Houston, Houston Communtiy College and The Art
Institute and recieved wonderful crew of
Dressers,Tailors and Pressers eager to do what ever it
would take to make the show a success. The students were able
to get up close and personal with their favorite designers such as
Peter Som, Donna Karen, Micheal Kors, Heatherette and Zac Posen to
name a few. The detail of the fabrics the accessories the shoes all
made for unbelievable experiece for the students. Something
she hopes they will never forget. Her reward for sharing her world
of fashion You ask?

What an amazing show this year!
Culture's owner Charlene Spiller expresses as
she is enlisted to assists with the hair this time around.The
looks were all about fresh the and sexy this season, as an
array of beauties graced her chair for this seasons hottest
looks. This season she assisted with looks for Mycheal
Knight of "Project Runway" Nelly's Apple bottoms, Amaya
Swimwear and G-unit. Performances this year include
Nelly, Paul Wall, LLoyd, Rich Boy and Mims just to name a
few. Her most memorable moment? A suprise
perfomance by Rakim!! This years hosts! "

Salon owner Charlene Spiller worked up a sweat during
this years tapping of BET's fashion show. Back
stage was totally fast paced with nothing but
pure energy as she helped the models achieve the
looks for each pacific designer and hip hop clothing line."It
was a great experience"she says .Some of the clothing lines
were Lady Enyce, G-Unit, Todd Smith(which is LLCool J's
new line) and several others. There where also
plus size designers and models in the show this year which
promisses to have something for everyone. Performing this year
is Oscar winning hip hop group 3SixMafia,
TI,Busta,Chris Brown, Anthony Hamilton and NE-0
just to name a few.The show airs March 23,2006 at

Charlene Spiller Thomas featured in Wall Street Journal
(Houston, Texas)—November 14, 2005—Charlene Spiller- Thomas has big ambitions.
The young salon owner and hair and makeup expert recently returned from a stint as a dresser at New York’s Fashion week- a mecca for fashionistas from around the world. Last year, Charlene went from being a bystander to a key player, joining up with an organization serving backstage at Fashion Week.
While backstage at the Oscar De La Renta fashion show, Charlene was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal. The interviewer followed her through several roller coaster days with designers like Donna Karan, Imitation of Christ, and supermodel Naomi Campbell.
The article chronicled her ambition to become more involved in the New York scene, even as she maintains her successful salon in Houston- Culture Salon, located in Shepherd Plaza.
